The Role and Hospital
The Anaesthetic Unit is a collaborative team environment, the Staff Specialist Anaesthetist will provide exceptional anaesthetic services within a multi-disciplinary team of medical officers and nursing staff to patients. The Staff Specialist Anaesthetist will ensure that patient care is centred, safe and timely.

Key responsibilities of the role include providing specialist-level anaesthetic services, fostering of relationships with colleagues and other hospital specialists, provide clinical leadership, supervision and teaching of junior medical staff, participate actively in audits, clinical meetings and safety activities. Sub-specialty interests can be facilitated (eg chronic pain, ICU).

Surgical procedures performed annually include ENT, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Urology and Ophthalmology. The state-of-the-art Intensive Care Unit opened in November 2018 with 8 ICU/HDU beds.

Requirements
Applicants should be registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia and be a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) or equivalent as an overseas trained specialist who has completed their training in either the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA (ABA certified) or New Zealand.

Within an hour flying time to Melbourne and Adelaide, it has the perfect Mediterranean climate, with a high number of warm sunny days perfect for visiting the many cafes and restaurants or relaxing by the Murray River. There are great shopping precincts and markets, excellent sporting and cultural facilities, hosts numerous festivals and has many high performing public and private schools

This location is also known as the centre of Victoria's Food Bowl and is a major producer of citrus fruits (especially oranges), and wine. It is also notable for its grape production, supplying 80% of Victoria's grapes. Many wineries also source grapes from here.
