HEALTH AND SAFETY SPECIALIST

WHEN YOU JOIN US, YOU WILL BE;

• Following corporate policies and procedures to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at company facilities and jobsites
• Assisting in developing, implementing, maintaining and improving Health and Safety programs to reduce workplace injuries and illnesses
• Conducting hazard assessments and workplace inspections at company facilities and jobsites; Recommending and/or implementing corrective action
• Participating in incident investigations, ensuring they are reported to appropriate authorities and corrective actions are taken in a timely manner to prevent recurrence
• Liaising with third party claims management services provider to ensure claims are being properly managed
• Ensuring Health and Safety related documentation is collected, available and maintained.
• Collecting Health and Safety performance metrics and preparing reports as required
• Assisting in the preparation and updating of training materials for all new programs that meet established standards; updating Training Matrix and ensuring it is maintained
• Understanding Preventive Maintenance, Emergency preparedness / responsiveness, contractor programs.
• Assisting in COR certification and maintaining ongoing certification

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE;

• Post-Secondary education in Health and Safety Management or related field
• Bilingual: English and French
• 3-5 years of Health and Safety experience in construction, trucking or distribution environment will be an asset
• Comprehensive knowledge of relevant Occupational Health and Safety legislation
• Ability and willingness to travel at least 50% of the time
• COR Internal Auditor qualification/working knowledge of COR is an asset
• Proficiency in Excel, Outlook, Word, and Windows Applications
• Strong communication skills and a team player
• Valid and clean Class G Driver's License

WORK AUTHORIZATIONS AND TRAVEL;

• Authorized to work in Canada
• Ability to travel
