We currently have an exciting opportunity for you to bring your excellent work ethic to our Speech Language Pathology department.
In accordance with established vision and values of the organization and in accordance with professional standards and code of ethics as outlined by the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of B.C., the Speech-Language Pathologist. provides evaluation and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders to adult acute care inpatient/outpatient patients. The Speech-Language Pathologist may work directly with clients and/or with their caregivers or other persons who regularly interact with them for the purpose of creating environments that promote optimal communication/swallowing. The Speech-Language Pathologist contributes to the organization and the overall goals of the department/program quality assurance initiatives, meetings, and education.
Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Tuesday and Thursday, Days - 08:00 to 16:00. This 0.4 FTE position can have flexible days.
New Wage: As of April 1, 2023, the new wage is: $40.53 - $50.62/hour
Dawson Creek & District Hospital is a 50-bed hospital that offers full service that includes inpatient care, emergency, respiratory, rehab, surgery, obstetrics & gynecology lab, medical imaging and cancer care. The hospital is the northeastern BC orthopedic and trauma centre. Visiting specialists in urology, dermatology and pediatrics is also available.

Qualfications
•Current registration as a Speech-Language Pathologist with the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC
•One year's clinical experience with adults in a hospital setting and/or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
•Valid BC Driver's license where required.

•Communication: Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, caregivers, members of the interprofessional care team, both verbally (one-on-one and in groups) and in writing.
•Critical Thinking: Demonstrated ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) to problem-solve and make decisions effectively. Applies the problem-solving process demonstrating critical thinking and decision-making skills using a systems approach.
•Human Caring and Relationship Centered Practice: Ability to promote client-focused care that demonstrates care for and with clients and significant others, sensitivity to diverse cultures and preferences, client advocacy and social justice concerns.

•Equipment: Demonstrated computer skills including the use of Windows based programs. Demonstrated ability in the use of e-mail and word processing. Ability to operate other related equipment as required in the specific practice area.
