About the role

The administration officer is to assist in the facilitation of service delivery both in the hospital and community settings.

The key responsibilities and capabilities of the role are:

  • Ensure patients and other staff are treated fairly and with mutual respect and understanding, regardless of cultural, religious, ethnic and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Utilise information systems to record and update all patient demographic information, Medicare details and referral details (e.g. HBCIS, MediRecords, Smart Referrals, iEMR, ESM). Also, using these systems to track health fund details, admission details, ensuring data integrity and patient confidentiality by adhering to approved policies, guidelines and workplace instructions. Book in, book out, cancel and or rebook outpatients and clinics on outpatient system.
  • Perform reporting functions as appropriate, including bulk billing of patients according to treatment, item numbers and the Medicare schedule of benefits.
  • Actively contribute to developing and maintaining a culture where staff are vigilant to risks to themselves, their co-workers, clients or visitors (including health and safety, business and operational risks).
  • As required, maintain data and ensure information is accurate.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Ability to work in a team environment and autonomously when required.
  • Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills
  • Positive and effective costumer services
  • Proficiency in the application of internal hospital information systems in addition to Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Knowledge or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of basic medical terminology to extract and interpret pertinent information from patient medical records and hospital information systems

Mandatory Requirements:
