Tasks
·
Conducting examinations and assessing patients todetermine the nature of disorders and illnesses and recording patients' medicalinformation.
·
Prescribing laboratory tests,X-rays and other diagnostic procedures, and interpreting findings to assist indiagnosis.
·
Providing overall care for patients,administering treatments, medications and other remedial measures.
·
Monitoring patients' progressand response to treatment.
·
Advising on diet, exercise andother habits which aid prevention and treatment of disease and disorders.
·
Referring patients to, andexchanging medical information with, specialist Medical Practitioners.
·
Reporting births, deaths andnotifiable diseases to government authorities.
·
Arranging the admission ofpatients to hospitals.
Requirements
Occupations in this unit group have a level ofskill commensurate with a bachelor’s degree or higher qualification and atleast one year of hospital-based training (ANZSCO Skill Level 1).
Registration or licensing is required.
