About the role

As Perth’s single largest investment in public transport, METRONET will transform the way people commute and connect. The Morley Ellenbrook Line aims to deliver 21km of rail infrastructure and ancillary works to support operational passenger rail between Bayswater and Ellenbrook. The project includes the design and delivery of 5 stations including inter-modal bus and rail, with parking and associated roadworks at Morley, Noranda, Malaga, Whiteman Park and Ellenbrook stations, and ancillary works at the Bayswater Station.

We are currently seeking a HSE Advisor to join our project based in Malaga, WA.This role offers great career prospects with a privately-owned tier 1 constructor and international engineering enterprise.

Key responsibilities

  • Facilitate the implementation of the Laing O’Rourke HSE Management System and Project HSE Management Plans in accordance with company requirements
  • Coach, mentor and support project personnel to continually improve the culture and performance of the project team and Laing O’Rourke’sNext Gearphilosophy.
  • Complete, facilitate and mentor accident investigations up to and including Potential Class 1
  • Assist in the coordination and undertaking of HSE assurance activities including audits and support the project in developing and closing out any actions arising
  • Develop and deliver prestart and toolbox talks
  • Provide basic HSE Management System (SMS) and contractual requirements coaching
  • Carry out basic Health and Safety inspections
  • Monitoring and conducting regular HSE governance checks within the project sites including collective insights, positive investigations, FSR's, SER's, report breaches and recommending remedial actions

About you

  • Relevant Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety
  • Previous experience working within a high-risk construction industry environment, coupled with experience in assisting supervision and management with HSE issues/action closeout within the workplace
  • Experience in effectively managing site-based hazards and risks, with the ability to complete incident investigations
  • Understands basic environmental and OHS risk management activities
  • Able to read, understand and interpret a workplace policy and /or procedure
  • Able to assist in the identification of significant factors affecting the project design and help with the design risk assessment
