Contribute to and participate in diagnostic testing and related duties following Pathology Queensland established accredited protocols and standards within a multidisciplinary team in accordance with prescribed professional, legislative, administrative and ethical standards, ensuring that the laboratory service meets National Association of Testing Authorities and International Standardisation Organisation (NATA/ISO) accreditation/certification requirements as per District health service.

Key competencies (role specific criteria)

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated knowledge, expertise, and skill in the delivery of scientific judgement within a multidisciplinary laboratory.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply established principles to a multidisciplinary service with provision of results and clinical advice in a client focused manner.
  • Demonstrated ability (or ability to rapidly acquire the skill) to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification.

Qualifications, registrations and other requirements

  • The successful applicant must hold at least a tertiary degree (or equivalent) formal qualification (s) in medical laboratory science.
  • The position advertised with Continuous Shift conditions and will be required to work a rotating roster of day, evening and night shifts over a 7-day period.
  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/ manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
  • Please detail any visa conditions you may have if you are not a permanent resident of Australia.

Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) requirements

  • It will be a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against one or more of the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment: Hepatitis A & B, Measles, Mumps, Pertussis, Rubella and Varicella.
  • Additional vaccinations including Japanese Encephalitis and Rabies may also be required for this position.
  • Existing staff that are engaged prior to 1 July 2016 are not subject to this condition of employment unless they apply for a role with VPD requirements that is with a different Queensland Health entity (i.e. one HHS to another HHS, department to a HHS, or HHS to department).
