The Position: As the Staff Specialist in General Medicine and Gastroenterology you will work within an inter-disciplinary team to ensure timely, appropriate care and effective discharge strategies. Duties will include patient care, supervision and teaching, continuing medical education, research and administration.
The Location: This is a north-western residential suburb of Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia, 6 kilometres from Newcastle's central business district and bounded to the north by the Main North railway line. The Facility: This facility is the major cancer care centre for the Hunter New England Local Health District, delivering more than 390,000 occasions of outpatient services and in excess of 17,000 inpatient treatments per year. It provides an Emergency Department open 24 hours seven days a week, an Intensive Care Unit, extensive Palliative Care services including the Mercy Hospice. Hunter New England Local Health District’s Mental Health facility and Breastscreen NSW are also located on the Mater campus.
