Job Description

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set-up and operate equipment to perform special procedures or other interventional radiology services according to departmental protocols and report all equipment faults and errors to the immediate supervisor. Select the proper equipment, accessories and techniques to obtain the highest image quality.
  • Perform special procedures or interventional radiology services for all patients as requested and ensure availability of images with required information in the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and the Radiology Information System (RIS) immediately after completing the procedure according to departmental protocols and standards.
  • Coordinate care and safety of patients during routine special procedures and interventional examinations. Review and comply with hospital and departmental policies and protocols. Participate in the implementation of the departmental strategic plan.
  • Ensure communication with patients and staff is meaningful and professional. Maintain patient confidentiality, rights and privacy at all times.
  • Participate in the quality improvement and research projects within the Special Procedure section.
  • Handle special procedures and interventional radiology scanners, equipment, and related accessories safely and responsibly. Follow established Radiation Protection measures for themselves, patients, other staff and the population in general. Follow safety orders precisely and conform to regulations concerning the use of radiation.
  • Fully inform patients and/or relatives as to the nature of the examination to be performed. Ensure correct patient identification and site verification checks are undertaken for each examination.
  • Ensure all applicable licenses and /or trainings are maintained current. Follow the established International Patient Safety goals.
  • Participate in monitoring and training students, technicians and new staff related to the assigned area. Ensure scheduled work is completed before signing out.
  • Perform other job-related duties.

Registration with Saudi Commission for Health Specialties – Essential

Basic Life Support Certificate – Essential
