The Women's and Children's Services at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Clinical Nurse Consultant (Paediatric Outpatients) to join their team on a permanent basis.

Your opportunity

The Clinical Nurse Consultant (Paediatric Outpatients) is a Registered Nurse who is recognised as an advanced practitioner in health care services and expertise in leading an integrated health team. The role will lead the development, implementation, evaluation to sustain outpatients' services within Paediatrics Medicine. The role coordinates, communicates and collaborates with other health care professionals, including specialists to ensure smooth coordination and communication regarding waitlisted patients. The aim is to improve the efficiency of appointment scheduling, enhance patient/family care, and ensure they receive timely access to the service they require.

About the Team

The Child & Adolescent Unit (CAU) provides inpatient, outpatient and ambulatory care for children and adolescents aged from maternity discharge to 18 years.

The CAU inpatient unit is a family-oriented facility with 12 beds and parents and carers are encouraged to stay overnight and be actively involved with their child's care during admission. The unit is staffed by paediatricians and paediatric nurses and provides support services from an excellent team of allied health professionals.
