About the role

The primary purpose of the position is the management and provision of high quality clinical coding services by overseeing the coding management, coding quality and coder-clinician liaison functions of the Health Information Management Service.

The position will also provide expert advice in the area of clinical classification and Activity Based Funding (ABF) both within the organisation in addition to external agencies including Queensland Health, other health care facilities within the public and private sector and Queensland University of Technology. The position is also responsible for representing West Moreton Health on state-wide Clinical Coding Committees and networks.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Knowledge in Clinical Coding, Activity Based Funding, and how clinical coding and data quality contributes to the organisations Service Agreement.
  • Leadership and management skills to effectively manage a team in achieving high quality coding, within specified time frames, and in accordance Australian Coding Standards.
  • High level of interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively influence and lead a team whilst managing the impact of organisational change promoting the organisations mission and values.
  • Skills and experience in the provision of training, mentoring, and coaching Clinical, Coding and Administrative staff.
  • Knowledge of quality human resource management practices including workplace health and safety, employment equity, anti-discrimination, and ethical behaviour.
