Are you a passionate Registered Nurse (RN) looking for a fulfilling role in healthcare and are able to administer injections to patients under five years of age? Look no further! Our pharmacy in Sterling, Grand Prairie, is seeking a dedicated casual RN to join the team. Mint Health + Drugs has become a leading and rapidly expanding independent pharmacy organization throughout Canada. Our core belief centers on a company operated and owned by pharmacists, with a dedicated focus on patient-centred care.

At Mint Health+Drugs Sterling, we’ve embraced our young community of families, offering specialized care and products focused on maternity, labour and delivery, breastfeeding and infant care. We also offer the only privately certified travel clinic in the area, with prescribing pharmacists certified by the International Society of Travel Medicine. You will work closely with our pharmacy team to ensure the safe and effective delivery of medications and vaccines to our young patients. This position offers flexible hours outside of regular pharmacy business hours to meet the needs of the business on an as-needed basis. The pharmacy is open from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, and closed daily from noon to 12:30 PM for lunch. Availability outside of our hours of operation, such as 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., will also be considered.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer injections to pediatric patients under 5 years of age, following established protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Administer injection of vaccination prescribed to patients subsequent to travel health consultation.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient encounters, injections administered, and vaccine inventory.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists and healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and optimize treatment outcomes.
  • Adhere to regulatory standards, infection control protocols, and best practices in pediatric nursing.
  • Flexibility to work outside of regular pharmacy business hours on a casual basis to accommodate patient needs and business demands.

Education and Experience:

  • Experienced administering injections to all patients, especially to children under five years of age.
  • Current registration and licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Alberta.
  • Certification in pediatric life support (PALS) and immunization administration is an asset.
  • Graduate of an accredited Registered Practical Nursing program.
  • Active Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License, Clean 3-Year Drivers Abstract.
  • Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector.
  • Certifications (or willingness to obtain): Standard First Aid and CPR.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with pediatric patients and their families.
  • Availability to work on a casual basis outside of regular pharmacy business hours.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in pediatric nursing.
  • Demonstrated competence in nursing scope and practice.
  • Desire to self-improve through formal education or learning new skills.
  • Demonstrates strong patient care, customer service and team-building skills.
