Island Health has opportunities for Cardiac Anaesthesiologists in Victoria, BC. Located in Victoria, the Royal Jubilee Hospital is a 500-bed tertiary care facility and the referral centre for cardiac surgery patients on Vancouver Island. Cardiac cases total approximately 700-750 per year. Our cardiac anaesthesia group are involved in on-pump coronary artery bypass surgeries, complex valve surgery, aortic surgery, laser lead extractions, catheter based structural heart procedures, TAVIs, and TEVARs. We are the regional ECMO centre as part of the provincial ECLS network.Other surgical services at Royal Jubilee Hospital include general, thoracic, bariatric, ENT, urology, vascular, orthopedic, ophthalmologic, and plastic surgery. It serves as a teaching centre for the University of British Columbia’s medical school and postgraduate medical education and our department is affiliated with both the University of British Columbia and the University of Victoria. Both staff anesthesiologists and residents based in Victoria have won multiple UBC awards.The Victoria Department of Anesthesiology consists of 50 full time equivalent anesthesia positions covering 2 tertiary sites in the city.You will function as part of a collegial cardiac anesthesiologist team and your work will involve cardiac and all other surgical specialties offered at this centre.
