Applications are invited for a Specialty Doctor in General Medicine post (including Medical High Dependency Unit). You will work across acute general medicine and various speciality medical wards, as well as having involvement in specialist outpatient clinics and procedural clinics.
You will work across acute medicine and general medical ward at senior middle grade level. You will have the opportunity to manage a range of acute medical problems and to develop your clinical leadership within these areas. You will have the opportunity to develop clinical skills aligned with acute medicine and to practice them regularly. You will be expected to manage patients as a senior decision maker under the guidance of a consultant physician. There is also the opportunity to participate in a range of speciality out-patient clinics.
In addition to clinical management we would expect you to develop other roles in the department, such as quality improvement or service development.
Applicants must have full GMC registration with a licence to practice and two years’ experience in hospital medicine.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
