An exciting position with specialized focus in addiction medicine currently exists within Alberta Health Services Clinical Departmentof Addictions and Mental Health. The Addictions Portfolio is actively recruiting an Addiction trained psychiatrist to work across different addiction care sites in Edmonton. Opportunities will include work at the ODEAC clinic, Henwood, ARC detox and inpatient Addiction consult teams. In this role, the psychiatrist will assess, diagnosis, and treat adult patients with mental illness and substance use disorders. In addition, delivery of group treatment for patients with concurrent disorders will be a part of the position. Management of Opioid Agonist Treatment is a crucial part of the position.

The physician will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to manage patient care across sites. This physician will work between Monday to Friday, with an equitable portion of on-call inclusive of weekends and statutory holidays. Remuneration is fee for service across sites with a highly attractive income guarantee and hourly rate for on-call at the ODEAC site.

Qualifications:

Successful candidates must hold or be eligible for independent practitioner registration with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta and hold certification or be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Mental Health and Addictions experience required. Group Facilitation skills are an asset. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Exceptional collaboration abilities with partners and staff. Understands and places importance on patient care/service. Education focused and a creative problem-solver.
