The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Social Worker - Senior (Homeless Health Outreach Team) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Deliver efficient and high-level mental health social work services, within a multidisciplinary team in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards to consumers with complex mental health
  • Contribute to the development of clinical practices, procedures and protocols that support the delivery of services directed at helping consumers manage their illness
  • Deliver high level generic mental health services including assessment, treatment interventions and case management
  • Contribute to student education and training through provision of field placements.

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • A tertiary degree in Social Work
  • Eligibility for membership to the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
  • Driver Licence
  • Blue card / Working with children check (GCH will cover cost)
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

  • Permanent full time
  • Base salary ranging from $124 435 - $133 901 per annum

About Us

The Homeless Health Outreach Team provides services to people who are chronically homeless with complex needs and diverse value systems, and do not access standard health services. While there is a strong focus on mental health and drug and alcohol issues, general health issues will be within the scope of this team.  This team will work very closely with the non-government services and other local and state government services that are involved in provided services to this clientele.
