We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to work full time for at our specialist Independent School, supporting children aged 4 16, with Speech, Language and Communication needs.

Our school is a highly supportive and nurturing learning environment, that maintains a positive and inspiring atmosphere through our dedicated, passionate and caring team.

The successful candidate will provide assessment, advice and interventions for children and young people attending our school, who have speech and language needs. You will work with teaching and support staff, as well as our OT department, and other therapists, to achieve the targets set out in EHCPs and make recommendations to support learning where necessary.

Job Description Speech and Language Therapist

Speech and Language Therapist (Band 5/6)

Providing SLCN support and intervention for all students across Primary & Secondary

Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop individualized therapy plans and interventions.

Assess and provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions to address communication difficulties.

Monitor and evaluate the progress of service users, adjusting therapy plans as necessary.

Provide guidance and support to staff, parents, and caregivers to facilitate the integration of therapy techniques into daily routines.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, therapy sessions, and progress reports.

Full Time, term-time only

Permanent contract

NHS Band 5/6 Salary

Located in the Borough of Merton

Person Specification Speech and Language Therapist

A recognized qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.

Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Proven experience working with complex needs, autism, physical disabilities, and medical conditions across a variety of settings, preferably paediatric

Familiarity with communication difficulties associated with complex needs, autism, and related conditions.

Passion for working with neurodiverse individuals and a commitment to making a positive impact on their lives.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, colleagues, and external stakeholders.

Previous experience working in a school setting is desirable but not essential.

Knowledge of a range of learning barriers in addition to Speech and Language needs.

Training in/knowledge of a range of communication and teaching methods.

Excellent reporting skills to inform pupil development

Resilience and adaptability are a must!
