The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is the largest mental health and addiction teaching hospital in Canada, as well as one of the world's leading research centres in its field. Our services are delivered to help transform the lives of people affected by mental illness and addictions. Reporting directly to the Director, Clinical Research and Medical Affairs and the Principal Investigator, CAMH is seeking a full-time contract (12 months) Research Coordinator. The  Research Coordinator will work closely with the Principal Investigator to coordinate a multi-site randomized-controlled pilot trial of a self-stigma reduction intervention for young adults. The work is situated in a setting focused the engagement of people with lived experience in research and will include an important youth engagement component as per the Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research. The Research Coordinator will play a key role in coordinating all aspects of the research project, including development of project plans, collaborating with team members, working with young adults with lived experience, collecting data, and ensuring compliance of all project activities with all regulatory requirements. Other duties include coordinating project team meetings and stakeholder consultations, preparing study materials, monitoring timelines and budgets, supporting data organization and analysis, and performing various administrative duties. Additional duties may emerge, as needed. You will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable and regulatory requirements. 

The successful candidate will have a minimum of a Master’s degree in a related field e.g., Psychology, Public Health, Medical Sciences, with coursework focused on mental health, mental health services, and advanced research methodologies. A minimum of two (2) years of experience conducting human subjects research, including research coordination components, is required. Experience should include clinical trial experience, as well as experience supporting a range of research activities, such as supporting the preparation of data for manuscripts and reports. Experience conducting quantitative mental health service research projects in a hospital environment including monitoring, documentation, meeting project deadlines, and achieving deliverables, is required. Experience with randomized-controlled trials, qualitative or mixed methods research, multi-site trials, youth-focused research, stigma-related research, and patient-oriented research are all strong assets for this position. Having personal or family lived experience of mental health challenges is an additional asset in this study setting.

The successful candidate must be a team player with ability to build and maintain relationships within a multidisciplinary team of researchers, people with lived experience, family members, and other stakeholders. The successful candidates will demonstrate leadership, collaboration and engagement skills and has the ability to coordinate the activities of other team members. A proactive attitude and a willingness to be committed to and strive for continuous improvement is essential. Advanced computer skills with knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Access & PowerPoint), SPSS, REDCap, NVivo, Internet Search engines, Covidence, and the ability to learn new programs is required. Demonstrated superior communication skills, i.e., ability to explain complex issues in plain language both verbally and in writing in a prior work setting is required. The successful candidate must have creative problem-solving and organizational skills and be able to work independently and effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment and with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
