About the Role:

An exciting opportunity is available for a highly skilled and motivated Occupational Therapist (Grade 2) to join our team in the Royal Children's Hospital’s Children's Pain Management Service. This is a Permanent Part Time position at 0.6 FTE (working Tues-Thurs).

You will work as part of a highly supportive multidisciplinary team to deliver occupational therapy services to children and adolescents with persistent pain, including conditions such as: CRPS, headaches and musculoskeletal pain. These services are provided on an outpatient basis with the primary objective to return patients to their normal level of functioning. You will be able to utilise the hospital's excellent facilities to provide high quality care to our patients.

We offer a structured clinical supervision program tailored towards your learning goals, with plenty of opportunities to upskill in a variety of areas of pain management such as graded motor imagery and sensory regulation. You will be supported with joint sessions with the senior occupational therapist as well as our highly experienced physiotherapists and psychologists.

What You'll Achieve:  

  • You will integrate information from multiple sources to develop and deliver excellent, evidence-based and holistic clinical care to young people with chronic pain
  • You will participate in internal and external continuing education programs (e.g., case presentations, in-services, special interest group meetings and professional development events)
  • You will participate in quality improvement and/or research projects relevant to occupational therapy and chronic pain

Your Skills and Experience:

  • Recognised degree qualification from an accredited Course/University in Occupational Therapy
  • Current registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Experience in either: pain management, rehab, neuro, mental health and/or paediatric management
  • Possess excellent communication skills
  • Has a commitment to evidence-based practice and the ability to assist with education and the development of resource materials for staff, patients and families about all aspects of the assessment and management of childhood pain
