Activities Coordinator

You're a skilled communicator, both verbally and in writing, and able to effectively lead, coach, and mentor teams to achieve their goals. You have a proven track record of successfully supervising and managing team members' performance, with the ability to recruit, coordinate and monitor a team of volunteers. You're a natural teacher and leader that inspires individuals and groups to reach their full potential. Your expertise in planning, implementing, and assessing the effectiveness of activities and programs has resulted in many successful initiatives in your previous experience. You also come with a deep understanding of the needs of seniors and the importance of wellness. Your expertise in observation and assessment allows you to determine residents' wellness needs accurately. Your eye for detail ensures that your documentation and reporting are thorough and accurate. You come with a recognized degree or diploma in recreation therapy and a current certification in occupational first aid level 1. You’ll have completed your Class 4 Drivers training and maintain a valid Class 4 (unrestricted) license with a clear driver abstract. You also have two years of recent related experience coordinating activity programs for seniors, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

About The Role

You'll implement, evaluate, and participate in therapeutic wellness programs designed for independent and assisted living residents. You’ll work collaboratively with the assisted living manager, chaplains, and activity assistants to develop activities tailored to meet the unique needs of each resident, foster a sense of community, and promote their overall holistic wellness. You'll coordinate and schedule both internal programs and external outings and prepare an activity calendar that considers residents' activation, life skills, and recreational and social needs. Building solid relationships with residents and other team members, including the chaplain, is also important. You'll be an ambassador for Baptist Housing by consistently working in alignment with our values. Your role is a permanent full-time position with a flexible working schedule up to and including a weekend or evening shift. You will report to the administrator.
