The Exciting Opportunity:

We are keen to hear from motivated Speech Therapist/Pathologists who are truly passionate about aged care. If you are looking for a change of direction, then this could be the position for you! This particular position is focused on servicing Residential Aged Care Providers in the Metro area where no 2 days are the same. You will be visiting various aged care facilities on a daily basis to provide essential Speech Therapy services to their elderly residents whilst coordinating with the broader allied health and nursing team.

This position reports to the Allied Health Team Leader and you will work with a dynamic team where you will be supported every step of the way. You will have the flexibility to manage your own workload and choose the desired days/hours to work during the week - this role can be either full time or part time including working school hours to suit your lifestyle choices and family commitments. You will be responsible for managing a clinical caseload and work both independently as well as part of the multidisciplinary team.

On a day to day basis you will be responsible for:

  • Provide speech pathology services to residents in aged care, including evidence-based assessment, diagnosis and management of communication and swallowing disorders
  • Creating and implementing effective, personalised therapeutic plans for each client with the ability to develop high quality therapy care plans and case notes, and contribute to written reports in a concise & professional manner
  • Collaborating seamlessly with multidisciplinary teams to provide holistic care and escalating concerns
  • Undertaking referrals and recommending appropriate interventions
  • Communicating with aged care residents and their families to understand their goals
  • Continuously enhancing your skills through dedicated professional development

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Batchelor's degree in Speech Pathology
  • AHPRA registration
  • SPA or similar registration as a certified Speech Pathologist
  • Possess of a valid WA Driver's license for visits to Aged Care Facilities
  • Covid and Flu Vaccinations
  • Dysphagia management
  • Diligent, can-do attitude and ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast changing aged care environment
  • Must be passionate about Aged Care
  • Demonstrated experience and clinical skills coupled with knowledge in a wide range of speech pathology assessment, treatment and evaluation
