Veterinary Surgeon

We are currently working with a dedicated 2-branch small animal veterinary practice set in the historic city of Bath, just 40 minute’s drive from the bright and bustling Bristol city centre and less than 2 hours train journey from both London city centre and London Heathrow Airport. Their hard-working team have been providing exceptional care to the pets of Bath for over a decade now and pride themselves on offering a friendly and welcoming environment for all.

They are currently looking for an enthusiastic and experienced veterinary surgeon to join their close-knit team. The role would be ideal for someone with a keen interest in imaging, who is eager to expand their skill set and grow with the team and practice. The current team although small, have clinicians and nurses with interests in surgery, medicine and dermatology and our clients are keen to continue to support them and any new members of the team with any specific interests and career progression dreams you may have.

This role is full time, permanent, with part time applicants also considered. Working a 4 day week and 1 in 5 Saturdays - 9am to 3pm – consultations only. Applicants will ideally have 1 to 2 year’s experience in practice and enjoy working both sole charge and as part of a team. You will have excellent communication skills both written and verbal and be confident communicating with clients regarding treatment plans, patient updates and accounts.

The practice offers 15 minute consultations with admin breaks built into your diary, including a 2 hour break in the middle of the day. These breaks have been created to allow for client calls, checking results, case work ups and of course ensuring a proper lunch break. You will have the option to work consultations only or do a mix of surgery and consultations in which case you will have full surgery days from 8am to 5pm where you will have a busy and varied caseload working alongside the surgical nursing team.

The practice itself is well equipped with digital x-ray, dental x-ray, 2 dental machines, oxygen contractors, Midray Z6 vet with abdominal and cardiac probe and ECG leads and a full in-house lab. They also aim to ensure continuity of care and the most stress free visit possible for clients and patients by working closely with a dedicated local out of hours team and ensure they do any case work ups they can in-house, only referring the most complicated of cases out of practice.
