Group Health and Wellbeing Lead

Job Description

Occupational Health (OH) external provider contract management. Providing assurance to the board, SLT and operational teams that we are compliant with occupational health obligations and deliver occupational health treatment and intervention on all of the group’s sites. Act as ‘intelligent customer’ for the group’s OH and wellbeing service providers to foster most effective and timely outcomes and best value. Support HSE and HR managers delivering the services they need at site level. Analysing health and wellbeing data to determine trends and performance and also identify improvement opportunities. Coordination and leadership of Health Champion Network to foster value-add and proactive health and wellbeing initiatives to the benefit of the group.

  • Support general Managers and HR/HSE teams by advising on appropriate strategies to deal with ill-health, capability, Equality Act aspects and management of industrial hygiene risks including noise, HAVS and COSHH. Ensure we gain best and most effective value from our external OH service suppliers.
  • 40% of time – Manage OH service providers to the group including identifying gaps, specifying scopes, selecting suppliers and managing performance and deliverables.
  • 30% of time – Delivering assurance activity including internal audits to provide confidence that the group is operating in compliance with regulations and customer requirements.
  • 30% - Supporting HSE and HR leaders achieving the required deliverables from service contracts and providers.
  • Maintain linkages with industry peers, current and potential customers, regulators and policy-makers in the health and wellbeing area to allow early warning and effective adoption of changes and developments
  • Deliver health and wellbeing reporting as required by the HSQE Director, Chief People Officer and SLT
  • Work collaboratively within the HSQE and HR Leadership Teams to deliver initiatives to improve performance, reduce absence, manage long-term casework and better manage risk across the business in line with HSQE Strategy.
  • Take information from engagement surveys and wider feedback eg TU consultation meetings, to identify gaps in service and potential improvements.
  • Support bid and tender work where specialist health and wellbeing insight and expertise are required.
  • Complete all necessary administrative, procurement and financial governance processes in support of responsibilities.
Qualifications
  • A broad-range of backgrounds - but likely to have included substantial work experience in one or more of HSE, HR, health management or practice management roles.
  • Demonstrable experience that shows an active interest and passion to make Harland & Wolff a healthy workplace.
  • Knowledge and application of SEQOHS standards, or willingness to learn [Desirable]
  • ISO Lead Auditor qualification with experience of ISO45003 as a lead or internal auditor, or willing to work towards these qualification [Desirable]
  • Award in Education and Training Level 3 OR Recognised Train-the-trainer qualification. [Desirable, or willing to undertake]
