Senior HSE Advisor

Occupational Health & Safety (Human Resources & Recruitment)

Due to continued success, Altrad are seeing an experienced and driven Senior HSE Advisor to join our site team on the Ichthys LNG, located in Darwin NT. This position attracts a full-time contract, working on a Monday - Friday roster, and therefore would require the expertise of a local / residential Darwin candidate.

Commencing in immediately, you will report to the Project Manager and be responsible for day-to-day leadership and direction for the project team as it pertains to safety matters, while delivering and maintaining high standards of work, whilst carrying out the duties of this role in line with company values to achieve long-term success.

Responsibilities to include but not limited to; 

  • Providing advice and guidance to the Project team from an HSE prospective
  • Implementation and maintenance of the HSEMP
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with the client site team and foster the professional image of the organisation
  • Implementation and periodic and continuous reviews of Risk Assessments (RA) to ensure currency and appropriateness with any changes in activities and/or work fronts. Reviews shall be in consultation with the work force and front-line leaders
  • Advising on a range of specialist areas, e.g., safety regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases
  • Conduct routine safety inspections, monitoring, and analysis of work areas and recommend solutions as required
  • Encourage a positive reporting culture whereby all employees and empowered to report incidents and/or injuries no matter how minor.
  • Contribute to the review of training shortfalls and liaise with Trainer/Assessor for organizing training sessions for project personnel as and when required.
  • Tracking the project team's performance against HSE KPI's and reporting thereagainst
  • Act as the site focal point for Injury Management
  • Report and conduct incident investigations
  • Lead HSE Advisors are expected to assume a leadership role within the HSE Team whereby HSE Advisors and Senior HSE Advisors would act as their direct report
  • Demonstrate a willingness and capability to perform other duties as deemed appropriate and consistent with professional qualifications, skill or experience.

About you

  • A minimum of 10 years' HSE advisory experience, with 5 years in the Coating & Insulation industry
  • Diploma Qualifications in OH&S, HSEQ, Risk Management or related area is essential (Degree desirable - minimum requirement Cert IV OHS).
  • Previous exposure to Scaffolding and/ or Painting and Insulation would be highly advantageous
  • Relevant experience/qualifications in Root Cause Analysis, Tap Root and/or ICAM investigation methodologies
  • Sound knowledge of HSE legislation, industry and best practice standards and their relevant to the group
  • Auditor qualifications (Desirable but not mandatory).
  • Extensive auditing and investigatory experience
  • Strong leadership, mentoring and people management skills
  • Willingness to work on a wide range of tasks involving on and off-site work as required
  • Ability to pass a project specific pre-employment medical, including a drug and alcohol screen
