About the role
Mater Research has a unique opportunity for a Research Assistant to join the Indigenous Health Group . This is a full-time (38 hours per week) role on a maximum-term basis for 12-months (with possible extension dependent on performance and funding) based in South Brisbane.
This identified role will facilitate research as research assistant and a cultural liaison between the Indigenous Health group and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
Salary range: $63,631.84 - $67,782.40 (MRI Admin Lvl 4) p.a. plus superannuation plus access to generous salary packaging
What you’ll be doing
This person will facilitate research as a cultural liaison between the Indigenous Health group and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and organisations. This position is responsible for providing research support to recruit and retain Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders into research studies as appropriate. This role will have a significant focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities of QLD to understand their health research and community priorities during early family life. This position is responsible for providing research support for a study with Aboriginal and Torres Strait families. The project will intersect with other research projects being undertaken by the Principal Investigator.
The candidate will have capacity to communicate effectively with community participants and organisations, be able to confidently communicate in a healthcare setting and understand some medical terms and language. This person will have skills in communication, coordination, time management and planning, including administrative duties and data management.
This position would suit an Aboriginal Health Worker, or someone working toward this qualification as well as applicants with all levels of nursing qualifications. The role requires working with research participants throughout and following pregnancy. Therefore, some medical literacy as well as experience with health management software systems is of great advantage.
