Bruce County Paramedic Service employs a staff of about 100 full time and part time paramedics that provide pre-hospital care to citizens and visitors of Bruce County. With a fleet of 9 ambulances and 1 supervisor unit stationed in 7 communities across the County we are ready to be deployed anywhere as needed.

The County of Bruce is seeking qualified Primary Care Paramedics for part-time positions within the Paramedic Services Department. Part-time Paramedics do not have regularly scheduled hours and are called on to work shifts on both short and long notice to replace full-time paramedics. The Primary Care Paramedic provides direct patient care consistent with provincial legislation, regulations, and standards as well as County of Bruce policies and procedures. Candidates must be able to provide reasonable availability to accept shifts at any one of the seven stations throughout the County, based on the current Collective Agreement.

$38.40 per hour

Current qualifications as a Primary Care Paramedic as per the Ambulance Act of Ontario:
- College Diploma from a Paramedic Program at an accredited post-secondary institution
- Advanced Emergency Medical Care Assistant (AEMCA) Certificate
- Current SWORBHP certification or the ability to obtain
Additional Requirements:
- Valid Class “F” Driver’s License
- Current certification in CPR (Heart & Stroke BLS Provider Level or equivalent)
- Current immunizations as per Ambulance Service Communicable Disease Standards
- Proof of completion of Ministry of Health Long Term Care mandatory training programs
- Physical Agility Certificate from an Ottawa Paramedic Physical Abilities Testing site (OPPAT), or proof of registration for this testing at the time of application. Successful completion required prior to job offer.
Assets:
- Current intravenous therapy skill set certified through the Ontario Base Hospital Group Medical Advisory Committee approved program. (Successful completion of this program will be required within 1 year of employment if not currently certified.)
Any offer of employment is subject to receipt of a clear Criminal Reference Check (vulnerable sector screen). Paramedics are also subject to an annual driver’s license check to ensure class and currency.
