Occupational Therapist

We are looking for an occupational therapist to join our growing team, as we aspire to create a multidisciplinary clinic that offers a range of developmental and mental health services to children, adolescents, and young adults. Our clinic is currently home to 4 psychologists who work with youth from ages 2 to 25, and their parents, caregivers, and community stakeholders. We emphasize the importance of a neuroaffirming approach to supporting young people and their families with a range of issues including developmental disabilities (including autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), learning disorders, and intellectual disabilities), mood and anxiety disorders, eating disorders, and gender identity.

A wide range of referrals will be initiated from within the clinic as we appreciate the diverse role of occupational therapists and the impact of the profession within the lives of our clients. These referrals may include a request for assessment, consultation and/or intervention focused.

This position will be based in-person at our downtown practice, with flexibility to work from home, in the community, and in the homes of clients as indicated and appropriate. Hours of work are flexible, with booking reflecting the successful candidates preference for daytime or evening hours.

The successful candidate will hold a Master’s degree from an accredited university program and be registered and in good standing with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT) as well as the New Brunswick Association of Occupational Therapists (NBAOT). The ideal candidate would have a minimum of two years of paediatric experience. In addition, valid CPR certification, the ability to pass a background/vulnerable sector clearance, and a valid driver’s licence (with access to a vehicle) are required.

  • Experience assessing the strengths and needs of a child through both formal and informal assessment, and creating individualized intervention plans based on the outcome.
  • The ability to write therapeutic goals and action plans, and implement these in practice.
  • Work collaboratively with families, clients and care team members.
  • An advanced knowledge of sensory processing, fine motor skill and handwriting development, self-care skills, sensory processing, and trauma informed approaches to practice.
  • A focus on evidence-based practice approaches, and motivation to implement these approaches in practice.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • An interest in working as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to be self-directed at work.

Benefits include:

  • Competitive compensation

  • Training opportunities – 500 dollars education fund per year

Rate of Pay and Hours
