Arnhem Land Pest Control in Nhulunbuy NT is looking for an experienced Health and Safety Adviser for a permanent full-time position to join their team.They are an established small company specialized in pest and termite inspections, eradication and prevention as well as waste management.They have current safety measures in place, but it has come to pass, and they may be outdated. They require a person who can think ‘outside the box in relation to what they have and where they should be going, reporting to the Office Manager, this is a salaried role.A typical day may consist of the following:Ensuring state of the art health and safety compliance across the whole organisation.Plan and conduct safety audits across all client services set up a monthly plan to be signed of by the CEO relating to this and review all current audits for correctness.Promoting healthy and safe working methods and practices in the workplace.Identifying, recording and reporting hazards, accidents, injuries and health issues, review all current paperwork in this area for correctness to meet current legislationWork with our indigenous staff on a one on one basis to deliver good and strong safety outcomesAssisting with investigation of accidents, studying possible root causes and providing remedial adviceConducting Health and Safety Training Sessions for all staff on a monthly basisAttend Clients pre-starts & safety meetings regarding ongoing works by being the company’s safety representative.Assisting with rehabilitation of workers after accidents and overseeing their successful return to work.Coordinating our Emergency Procedures and First Aid procedures and test on a bimonthly basis.Implement a developed OHS Plans and Monitoring ComplianceWork with Northern Territory Work Safe to comply with all safety legislation in place currently including the recent new laws relating to manslaughter in the workplaceInspect the workplace and related tools and equipment to ensure compliance with regulations.Ongoing review of the procedures manuals relating to safetySkills and Requirements:Have good customer service skills ‘FROM THE START’Be able to pick up the NT work safe “safety culture quicklyTo be able to travel in light aircraft as needed without getting airsick.To be able to understand the NT Mining Act in relation to ‘safety on a mine site’ and develop planning around for our workspaceHave the ability to Work Un-Supervised and meet set workloads.Excellent communication skills are essential and written EnglishBe able to use Microsoft 365Be able to operate an iPad or Samsung tabletBe able to develop a standard reporting format for reportingBe able to use email and any report writing software providedUnderstand 2way radio etiquetteFlexibility to work on weekend shifts inspection, weekend workers performing the role in safetyTo be able to conduct safety audits as needed to Australian standard (ALPC runs 7 days a week, 365 days per year service industry) meaning staff are on every weekend 7 days a week (flex time)Are available in all shifts and develop and carry out work Pre-start daily basis that are both uplifting and deliver a culture of safety, does not worry or stress staff.Can develop meaningful training for indigenous staff employed in the businessA remuneration package between $70,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year plus superannuation will be negotiated depending on skills and experience.Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
