Senior Systemic Investigations Officer

The Senior Systemic Investigations Officer is responsible for undertaking high quality complex investigations relating to systemic issues affecting the safety and quality of healthcare in Queensland, including monitoring the implementation of Health Ombudsman recommendations.

  • Drive systemic improvements in healthcare through investigation and monitoring activities, including:
  • Identifying and leading systemic investigations into the quality of health services
  • Identifying opportunities to improve standards of healthcare through the development of recommendations
  • Leading the monitoring and evaluation of recommendation implementation by health service providers
  • Undertaking assurance and quality monitoring activities to promote safety and quality of health service delivery
  • Preparing correspondence and high-quality reports for the Health Ombudsman
  • Undertake strategic intelligence gathering in relation to potential systemic healthcare issues.
  • Interpret and apply professional standards, codes of conduct and other formal guidelines to support the identification, investigation, and monitoring of systemic matters (including clinical governance frameworks) affecting the quality and safety of healthcare.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support systemic investigations processes, enhance service delivery and the office's relationship within the wider healthcare setting.
  • Actively engage in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of systems to support the strategic direction of the systemic team and the investigations division.
  • Undertake coaching and development of staff to enhance the development of team members' systemic investigations skills.
