About Us

At The Play projects we provide high-quality community paediatric Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Behaviour Support and AHA services to clients of all ages and abilities within the NDIS sector. We are a collaborative and innovative team that likes to have fun whilst we work. The Play Projects offers a different model of services which is structured on a play based, program and group model, rather than the traditional one to one therapy.

We pride ourselves on delivering a structured and supportive Graduate program that will kick start your career as an Occupational Therapist. As a TPP Graduate, you will be supported by a range of professionals including a Clinical Supervisor, Clinical Lead and multidisciplinary team, all dedicated to helping you transition from student to therapist!

Our clinic is based in Yarrawonga, Victoria which has a large client base stretching from the Riverina (Finley, Jerilderie, Berrigan, Tocumwal), to the Goulburn Valley (Shepparton, Yarrawonga, Cobram, Numurkah, Nathalia), to the Hume Area (Albury, Wodonga, Wangaratta) and many of the small towns in between.

Whilst our office is based in Yarrawonga and initially for your induction period you will be required full time in the clinic, you will also be able gradually work from home more often and service the areas in your location.

Our 12 month Graduate Program will build on your university education by providing you with the learning and support required to be a competent and confident therapist. As a Graduate at The Play Projects, you will have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of participants allowing you to develop your areas of interest, gain exposure and grow holistically as a therapist. Your program will commence with a 12-week induction, where you will receive:

  • Observational sessions and joint consultations/program involvement with your Clinical Supervisor
  • Monthly TPP Growth Hub Workshops and live learning sessions with your clinical mentors, covering topics like; Documentation and Incident reporting, Restrictive Practices, 6 Pillars and Developmental stages, Zones of Regulation, Working with Autism, Early Language, Sensory Tools, Trauma-informed practice for children and more.
  • Monthly Lunch and Learn Workshops involving knowledge sharing with your peer group on topics such as; Building relationship skills, Positive communication, Neuro Affirming training, Assistive technology/equipment, DIR floortime and Motivational Interviewing.
  • Monthly OT meetings with the team
  • Operational support from the Clinical Lead
  • Informal support from your graduate peers and multidisciplinary team
  • Access to our online training platform of self-directed learning modules
  • A gradual increase to your clinical caseload

Our 12-week program schedule will include topics such as:

  • Orientation - setting you up for success!
  • Clinical Systems - learning about the NDIS
  • Time Management
  • Communication
  • Documentation and report writing
  • Therapy - group programs, assistive technology (AT), assessments and goal setting
  • Thriving in practice

So… what happens after the 12-week induction?

You will continue to receive support from Growth Hubs, Lunch and Learns, OT meetings and check-ins with our Clinical Leads, 1:1 Clinical Supervision, group supervision and access internal & external PD and mentoring opportunities! Upon completion of the program, you will have the skills to feel confident in your role as a Occupational Therapist and will be supported to develop your skills in a number of interest areas including:

  • Early Years (aged 0-6)
  • Teenagers and/or adults
  • Creation and facilitation of group programs
  • Assistive Technology
  • Mental Health
