The Child Youth and Mental Health Service at the Mackay Community Health Centre is seeking applications for a Mental Health Clinician (Clinical Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Psychologist or Social Worker) to join their team on a temporary basis.

Your opportunity

  • Work within a multidisciplinary team to provide mental health case-management services to clients with a chronic and/or severe mental illness. Case-management will include assessment, intervention and treatment as well as group work as required, in accordance with professional standards and legislation (Mental Health Act 2016; State and National plans and polices).
  • Work collaboratively with consumers and multidisciplinary professionals to provide clinical care and a therapeutic environment conducive to the dignity and well-being of consumers and carers within the integrated Mental Health Service (IMHS).
  • The Mental Health Clinician (Clinical Nurse) provides advanced level clinical skills to ensure patient- focused evidence-based nursing care, plans and coordinates the clinical management of patient/client care and provides leadership and support to other nursing staff within the Community Child and Youth Mental Health Service.
  • Provide discipline specific services and consultation as required within the team and the service.
  • In addition to the above, the Mental Health Clinician is required to participate in an intake roster shared amongst CYMHS clinicians.

Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs Service

The Mental Health and AOD Service is comprised of eight clinical teams across the MHHS. The Mental Health Service is responsible for the provision of comprehensive, specialised mental health assessment and treatment services across the age-spectrum for people with severe and complex mental health problems. Our services aim to be consumer focused and recovery oriented and are provided in a variety of settings including community, an acute inpatient unit, hospitals and emergency departments.
