Job overview

We are looking for an experienced nurses to join our Cardiovascular & Thoracic operational team to undertake the responsibility for the management of the emergency and elective admission processes across the Care Group. By using your clinical experience and professional judgement you will be responsible for the safe and appropriate placement of patients together with the achievement of related Trust targets.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL DO

•    You will be an integral part of the Cardiovascular & Thoracic (CV&T) management of patient flow in and out of the CV&T care group. 
•    You will provide a link to the management team and are instructive when escalating any patient delays. 
•    You will be the liaison between each department within CV&T, UHS footprint and the wider hospital community. 
•    You will be a key person when talking to site/ED and need to always provide correct information. 


WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
 
You should be a registered nurse with excellent communication and organisational skills but also possess a wide range of clinical skills to support the delivery of clinical care when necessary. Please note this post will involve shift work with rotation onto days and night duty as part of a duty rota.

Qualifications / training required

Essential criteria
  • 1st level registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
  • Higher Education Institute approved course in supporting learner in practice
  • Evidence of on-going personal development
  • Mentorship qualification (or evidence of meeting the outcomes of the NMC standards)
  • Educated to or working towards Degree level
Desirable criteria
  • Specialist qualification. Graduate.

Previous or relevant experience necessary

Essential criteria
  • Extensive experience at band 5 or equivalent
  • Knowledge of current issues within acute Health Service
  • Understanding of personal accountability
  • Logical and consistent work and career pattern
  • IT Skills, experience of using excel and word packages and email
Desirable criteria
  • Proven management experience
  • ECDL Courses

Getting to Work

Application can be made for parking on site at UHS or through one of the park and ride schemes. This will be based on specific criteria to determine eligibility for site parking as this can be very limited.  UHS encourages staff to utilise other green methods of getting to work such as cycling or walking where possible. UHS is well connected through bus services to the city centre and other areas.
