Job Responsibilities/duties

ØWorking ingroup homes with individuals with developmental disabilities such as Spinal Cord Injury, Dementia and Down Syndrome

ØAssist clients with activities of daily living, such as feeding, lifts and transfers, bathing, skin care, oral hygiene and toileting

ØPerform delegated tasks for duties such as catheter care, suppositories, non-sterile dressings and mobilization routines for complex care clients

ØAdminister medication to clients and provide medication reminders, in accordance to established policy

ØPlans, prepares and serves meals and shops for groceries

ØObserves clients and their environments and report unsafe conditions and behavioral and physical changes

ØCompletes and maintains related records and documentation such as communication books and progress notes

ØPerforms other related duties as assigned

Wage: Starting at $21.85

Qualifications

ØGrade 12 completion

ØHealth Care Aide/Residential Care Aide certificate

ØRegistration with BC Care Aide Association

ØClass 5 BC Driver’s license and access to a vehicle(Preferred)(Class 4 Driver’s license is an asset)

ØUp to date immunization record including a current TB test within 1 year.

ØA satisfactory Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Check issued in the past 90 days

ØCurrent Standard First Aid & Level C CPR

ØAble to work independently as well as part of a team, with excellent organizational skills to manage your schedule.

ØCompassionate, respectful, and sincere manner, with ability to deal with conflict in a diplomatic and professional mannerEffective problem-solving and conflict management skills.

ØThis is a physically demanding position and requires hand, arm and shoulder dexterity, sensory ability, lifting to a maximum of approximately fifty-five (55) pounds, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and frequent movement.

Knowledge & abilities

ØHome Management skills

ØFlexible working hours – able to work overnight, evening and weekends

ØPhysical ability to carry out the duties of the position

ØAbility to operate related equipment

ØAbility to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

ØAbility to organize and prioritize

ØExperience with quadriplegics and behavioral conditions such as Dementia & Autism would be an asset
