Job Summary:
We are seeking a vigilant and safety-oriented Confined Space Attendant & Firewatch for upcoming shutdowns within the Canadian oil and gas sector. The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring activities in confined spaces, ensuring all safety protocols are followed, and acting as a firewatch to prevent and respond to fire hazards. This role is critical to maintaining a safe work environment during high-risk activities associated with shutdowns.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Confined Space Monitoring: Oversee and control entry and exit to confined spaces, ensuring adherence to all safety regulations and procedures
  • Firewatch Duties: Maintain a vigilant watch for fires in hot work areas, equipped to extinguish fires if necessary and alert emergency services promptly
  • Emergency Response: Be prepared to initiate rescue operations in confined spaces if required, ensuring the safety and well-being of all personnel
  • Communication: Maintain constant communication with workers inside confined spaces and the supervisory team, providing updates and alerts on any observed risks
  • Equipment Maintenance: Inspect and maintain all safety and emergency equipment, ensuring it is in optimal condition for immediate use
  • Documentation: Accurately document all activities, incidents, and safety checks in compliance with industry standards and company policies
Required Qualifications:
  • Certifications: Valid certifications in Fall Arrest, H2S Alive, Standard First Aid, CPR, Confined Space Entry, and Rescue
  • Experience: Proven experience in confined space monitoring and firewatch duties, preferably within the oil and gas sector
  • Safety Compliance: Thorough understanding of occupational health and safety regulations, hazardous materials, and emergency response protocols
  • Physical Fitness: Capable of performing physical tasks, including lifting equipment and potentially assisting in emergency rescues
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, crucial for effective teamwork and emergency reporting
  • Cultural Sensitivity: Respect for diverse cultures and communities, aligning with GrizzlyTrek’s commitment to Indigenous employment and partnership
