Working with us

  • Temporary role for up to 6 months.
  • Base salary rates $4822.20 - $5591.00 p.f. (L4-L9).
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution.

In your downtime , we offer 5 weeks p.a. with a 17.5% loading/bonus.

The Paediatric service in this rural and remote setting (Modified Monash ratings of MM6 & MM7) caters for a catchment population of 32,000 spread across more than 300,000km2 of rugged North West Queensland. Mount Isa base Hospital is the regional referral service for our smaller communities. Our 10 bed Paediatric Ward takes around 1100 admissions/year and a 3 cot Special Care Nursery caters for neonates >32weeks + including CPAP. We are serviced by 3 paediatricians, 3 advanced paediatric trainee registrars, 1 junior RMO and a Rural generalist GP with an interest in Paediatrics for 1 day/week. We have visiting Paediatric Respiratory, Cardiac, Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation subspecialists, and we utilise Telehealth services to assist families/GPs in the outreach centres plus connect families with subspecialist services such as Endocrine, Paediatric Surgery, Neurology, Developmental, Haematologic and Metabolic teams.

Requirements

  • The position requires the incumbent to have obtained a degree qualification from a recognized tertiary institution and hold Current registration or eligibility for registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia
  • Successful completion of the FRACP paediatric clinical and written exam or equivalent with RACP certification.
  • Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager prior to commencement of clinical duties
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: : Measles; Mumps; Rubella; Varicella (chicken pox); Pertussis (whooping cough); Hepatitis B; Tuberculosis.
  • Pre-employment screening: working with children (Blue Card) and criminal history checks.
  • Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 , there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.
