Six month maternity leave position (3 days a week – Mon, Thu and Fri) to start mid April 2024.

The Children’s Eye Centre in Wentworthville, western Sydney, is one of the largest dedicated paediatric ophthalmology practices in Sydney. We see children from newborn to 18 years with all types of strabismus (concomitant/ incomitant, congenital, refractive, neurological and restrictive) as well as pathology such as retinal dystrophy, cataract, retinopathy of prematurity, systemic disease with ocular associations, NF, genetic eye disease, and more.

Interest and variety is guaranteed and will present you with opportunities and challenges to improve your clinical skills on a diverse population.

What you will bring to the role:

– Master of Orthoptics qualification (or equivalent), with current registration on the Australian Orthoptic Board
– Ability to perform, and adapt as required, a comprehensive orthoptic assessment on children of varying ages and developmental abilities to gain meaningful results. This will generally comprise of history, VA (select appropriate method), ocular motility assessment for complex strabismus, general orthoptic assessment and pathology screening. Refraction, axial length and OCT will be performed as required.
– Strong teamwork skills with which to contribute to our team of 6 ophthalmologists and 5 orthoptists
– Excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt your communication style as circumstances require
