What You Will Be Doing
We are seeking a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our newly developed Infant, Child and Youth Area Mental Health Service. This new Infant Child and Youth Service is being developed from the ground up and offers the unique opportunity to be a part of the leadership group developing a new, modern, evidence-based and person-centred service, without needing to work around pre-existing models and services.
As well as providing leadership within your team, you will contribute to the set up and development of this service, and support training for RANZCP registrars and other staff.
The position will work closely with the Dr Neil Coventry, our newly appointed Head of Infant, Child and Youth Psychiatry, and the senior leadership team, to plan, develop, implement and deliver a new community-based Infant Child and Youth Area Mental Health Service for Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula. This will include intake and assessment services, community-based teams, a Youth PARC, and Youth inpatient beds. There will be no child or adolescent (under 16 years of age) beds in the model of care. You will help us to further high standards of clinical governance and leadership around Mental Health Act compliance, patient flow, service quality, and service improvement in the inpatient units.
The position will work closely with the appropriate managers of the Infant, Child and Youth Mental Health teams, and the broader mental health service, to ensure safe, effective, and cohesive multi-disciplinary care is delivered across the service.
We work within a collegiate environment to provide senior clinical care and leadership to our multi-disciplinary service that is committed to patient-centred, personal, safe, effective and connected care. You will become part of a strong culture of medical leadership within the multidisciplinary environment and supported to be part of a growing research and evidence generating approach to care.
This position would suit either someone with significant experience, or an appropriate candidate who was keen to grow and develop in this space, with support, training, and senior leadership supervision being available to support the successful applicant, as required.
What You Need
We anticipate you will:
• have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists
• have membership of the Faculty of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, or eligibility to join, and eligibility to supervise Stage 3 Trainees in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
• be a Medical Practitioner with registration in Australia.
