The Position
The Hospital is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Nurse to join the team. As a Mental Health Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing expert care, support, and treatment to patients experiencing mental health challenges.
Working within a specialisedmental health unit, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure patients' well-being and recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide nursing support to the inpatient mental health unit.
  • Collaborate with a team of 12 nurses
  • Support patients with mental health conditions such as PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, and Trauma.
  • Provide emotional and psychological support to patients, assisting them in managing their conditions.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, and other health careprofessionals to coordinate treatment plans.
  • Support group therapy sessions and provide one-on-one support to patients as needed.
  • Educate patients and families about mental health conditions and treatment options.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
  • Participate in continuous professional development activities.
  • Participate in the on-call roster.
Qualifications:
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with valid AHPRA registration.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • Postgraduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing (preferred).
  • Proven experience in mental health nursing (preferred).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Empathetic and nonjudgmental attitude towards patients.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
