The role:

This is an exciting, generalist role based in our GP clinics providing general, mental and physical health and wellbeing support for our people and communities. Our clinics are predominantly busy, walk-in clinics, and an important part of the role is helping nurses and GPs promote well-being in routine GP care. This role will see you working alongside multi-cultural GP teams, health coaches and community support workers in a collaborative and integrated manner.

Successful applicants will receive the required training including ongoing supervision and mentoring.

Please note, eligibility for the role includes:

· A post-graduate qualification enabling you to work therapeutically with clients

· Registration with a registering body under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act (HPCA) (for example, psychologist, social worker, etc) and/or full membership with NZAC

· Experience working with clients and their whānau with at least 6 months experience in a team or clinical setting

· Experience in working in evidence-based therapeutic models particularly brief psychological interventions

WST won the best mental health programme award at the 2021 New Zealand Primary Healthcare Awards. WST provides holistic support to people (all ages) and whānau with psychosocial, mental, physical and wellbeing needs.

The WST supports Tāmaki Health's General Practice teams to better meet patient well-being needs via a multi-faceted programme, including provision of evidence-based psychological intervention integrated within primary care. A mix of individual, couple, family, and group intervention services are offered in the community and integrated into GP clinics across the network. The diverse multidisciplinary team includes psychologists, psychotherapists, nurses, nurse practitioner, psychiatrist, GPs undertaking advanced training in primary mental health, health coaches, health improvement practitioners (wellness advisors), mindfulness educators, group facilitators and administrative roles. 

With the Government's Wellbeing Budget investment in primary mental health, it is an evolving and exciting time to join a passionate and supportive team which is led by Dr Codyre who created the first primary mental health service in New Zealand over 15 years ago.

· Working with a supportive multi-disciplinary team supported by a consultant psychiatrist, GPs, nurses, psychologists, therapists, other health improvement practitioners and health coaches

· The ability to link patients with other support services available through the Wellness Support Team in a stepped model of care

· Provision of internal supervision and mentoring support with professional development opportunities

· Regular dedicated professional development time and MDT peer reviews to support you in the new role and model

· Ability to be innovative and contribute to the development and growth of this service

· Opportunities to be trained in new models of engagement and brief interventions and to become a trainer based on competencies
