We are currently looking for a Staff Specialist (Anaesthetics) to join a highly motivated team based at the Mount Isa Hospital in far North Queensland providing anaesthetic services within the North West HHS.

The ideal candidate:

  • Skills in epidurals for delivery suite and anaesthsia for obstetrics is required.
  • Scope of Practice in paediatric anaesthesia (5 years and younger).
  • An interest in Intensive Care management of patients.
  • An interest in, or experience in, regional anaesthesia and acute and / or chronic pain management.
  • FANZCA or equivalent.
  • MBBS or equivalent registrable with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA).
  • Current registration or eligibility for registration as a Specialist in a relevant clinical specialty.

Wide open spaces and panoramic views ; the NWHHS covers a total population of around 36,000 people living in a geographical area spanning 300,000 km2!

A permanent role is on offer with job security and flexible hours / roster arrangements negotiable (including the potential to work 5 months/year).

Pro rata remuneration package (based on f/t equivalent value) from $441,940 up to $544,202 p.a.

  • Base salary rates between $204,206 and $258,910 p.a. (f/t) (L18-L27)
  • Attraction and retention incentive allowance 50% base p.a. salary
  • Regional and rural attraction allowance 15% base p.a. salary
  • Inaccessibility allowance of $34,500 p.a.
  • Motor vehicle allowance
  • 5 weeks p.a. annual leave with 17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
  • Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful candidate.
  • VPD risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, Tuberculosis.
  • 6 months probation may apply.
