The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH) leads the development, planning and delivery of comprehensive primary & specialist health care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in South East Queensland. We are the largest group of community-controlled Aboriginal health services in Australia.

The Family Health and Wellbeing Unit has a holistic approach to care, which includes addressing social determinants of health and preventative health programs. We have multiple joint projects with Children’s Health Queensland and other organisations to facilitate a continuum of care across different systems.

About the Role?

As a Paediatrician you will provide clinical leadership to drive access to high quality, comprehensive paediatric health services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families in the South East QLD regions. Key opportunities are to:

  • Join a team of experienced paediatricians with diverse skills and experience
  •  Participate in fortnightly discussions about clinical and operational matters
  •  Provide and receive clinical supervision
  •  Participate in dedicated service delivery and upskilling days
  •  Develop programs and guidelines to continuously improve community health services
  •  Participate in multidisciplinary clinics with specialised paediatric allied health teams
  •  Liaise and plan services with other community-based providers, such as the NDIS and schools
  •  Collaborate with General Practitioners via joint consultations
  •  Utilise datasets for service planning and development
  •  Identify alternative/enhanced funding sources to contribute to Paediatric service delivery and increase sustainability over time
  •  Provide staff training and education

About You?

  • Current QLD Drivers Licence
  •  AHPRA Registration
  •  Valid Disability Worker Screening Check (Yellow Card)
  •  Indemnity Insurance
  •  Specialist Paediatric Qualification (FRACP)
  •  Eligibility to obtain provider number(s) in the required locations

Desirable, but not mandatory:

  • Previous experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities
