The GP Liaison Consultant position is responsible for the following key areas:

  • Enhance the continuity of patient care between the primary and hospital sector by identifying and leading activities to reduce barriers, including communication.
  • Support the EDMS by providing expert GP advice on matters including patient flow, discharge planning and Rural Inpatient Facilities.
  • Promote a GPO focused perspective to improve patient care, considering clinical pathways.

The role:

  • Enhancement of the continuity and safety of patient care between the primary and hospital sector by identifying barriers to effective clinical handover and barriers to patient access to inpatient and outpatient services and leading activities to reduce these barriers.
  • Monitoring and evaluation of communication between the primary care and hospital sectors.
  • Receive and manage feedback from general practitioners regarding hospital services and patient advocacy.

Details of Appointment

Fixed term, part time, day worker position working 20 hours per fortnight, commencing from 29 April 2024 until 26 April 2026.

*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

Visiting Medical Practitioners

Visiting Medical Practitioners Level 1- Visiting Medical Specialists Level 4 $254,149 - $445,341 per annum, pro rata + 11% superannuation + access to salary packaging

  • Salary range is in accordance with Tasmanian Visiting Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) Agreement 2019

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  • General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia

*Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.

  • Postgraduate qualifications in health services management or other relevant experience.
