Position Summary

You will be part of a very friendly and inclusive young team of physicians seeing the breath and depth of complex respiratory and sleep presentations in the bush. We have state of the art facilities located adjacent to the public hospital, a fully functional complex lung function laboratory and a 4 bed in-lab sleep laboratory performing the breath of diagnostic and therapeutic services. Opportunities for outreach clinic, Telehealth medicine, procedural lists including EBUS exist. You will work in a town renowned for its cold climate wines and local produce, with excellent facilities and amenities that can support a young family. Orange is an ever-expanding regional hub, being a major trauma centre with excellent support and relationship with major medical and surgical specialties, and a strong and positive medical community. 

For candidates who are serious about a move to the country, there is a great opportunity for a mixed public (staff specialist, VMO)/ private work arrangement, with potential for up to 0.5 FTE public staff specialist respiratory work, with a view to expanding this fraction in the near future. Charles Sturt University & University of Sydney has its Rural Clinical School located in Orange, with a great opportunity for university affiliation, teaching and rural/ regional oriented research projects. I can help arrange this for you. 

Responsibilities
  • Flexible work environment, with a busy referral list from the start
  • The only in-lab comprehensive sleep centre in the Central West with referrals from many outlying towns and communities
  • The ability to report your own sleep studies and lung function
  • Ability and desire to manage advanced pathology, with many patients presenting with advanced respiratory disease/ respiratory failure
  • A desire to work with a group of young vibrant physicians with established connections to tertiary hospitals
  • Sleep credentialing desirable but not necessary
  • Opportunity to enter into the ownership structure within the private practice
  • Access to inpatient private hospital for inpatient care
  • Potential for public hospital appointment and university affiliation
Requirements
  • FRACP and AHPRA registration
  • Medical indemnity
Salary and Benefits

To be discussed, but generally will be percentage of billing and fixed reporting income from pulmonary function tests and sleep reporting, with opportunity for ownership and profit share in the practice if desirable.
