Mental Health and AOD Clinical Nurse

About the Opportunity

If you are passionate about primary health care and love a challenge, we’d love to hear from you. Based at Acacia Prison in Wooroloo, WA, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive clinical documentation with a focus on mental health for individual consultations and facility requirements.

Utilizing your clinical expertise and advanced specialist skills, you will support new staff members, supervise junior Registered Nurses and Enrolled Nurses, and contribute to the management of projects aligned with quality improvement and policy development. Additionally, we offer free onsite car parking and lunchtime cooked meals provided on site.

What you’ll be doing

  • Provide a comprehensive and accurate health assessment for patients.
  • Manage change and be proactive in uncertain and unpredictable patient’s health situations and work efficiently within the constraints of correctional environments and increasing patient acuity.
  • Provide clinical leadership that demonstrates a higher-level assessment skills and clinical knowledge and experience in Mental Health.

About you - your ideal skills & experience

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Comprehensive clinical documentation skills
  • Significant post graduate experience in Mental Health
  • Clinical knowledge and clinical problem-solving skills
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication
  • Commitment to ongoing personal and professional development
  • Experience within a correctional or acute environment, or similar, is preferred.
