About the Role
One of Melbourne’s leading civil works contractors with an established portfolio of projects throughout Melbourne is seeking a dedicated HSEQ Advisor to join their growing HSEQ team.
This is a permanent full-time position based at their headquarters in Richmond, with a primary focus on field and project operations in the Northern suburbs of Melbourne.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively promote workplace safety to employees, sub-contractors, and visitors, championing a culture of safety.
  • Maintain and enhance the Integrated Management System (IMS) to ensure compliance with relevant requirements and standards.
  • Assist in the start-up of new projects, including the development of project risk assessments.
  • Ensure site processes and practices align with industry standards and statutory obligations.
  • Undertake specific projects as directed, incorporating findings and outcomes to improve HSEQ management.
  • Collaborate with the broader HSEQ team to ensure consistent practices across the organization.
About You
As an HSEQ Advisor, you will play a crucial role in providing advice, coaching, guidance, and support to ensure compliance with HSEQ management standards and the optimization of operations. Additionally, you will contribute to the design and execution of our HSEQ strategy, driving us towards recognized best practices.
Requirements:
  • Minimum Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety, with a Diploma in WHS or higher being desirable.
  • First Aid Level 2 or above certification is essential.
  • Possession of a current Victorian Driver's License is necessary.
  • Additional certifications such as Occupational Rehabilitation & Return To Work, Confined Space Entry, Trench Support Installation, EPA & Melbourne Water, Electrical Test and Tag, and Fire Extinguisher Test and Tag are advantageous.
  • Previous HSEQ experience in the Civil Construction Industry or a similar high-risk industry is preferred.
  • Familiarity with IMS/OFSC implementation and accreditation processes.
  • Strong knowledge of Victorian HSE Legislation and QA Standards.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to address sensitive and complex issues across all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct incident investigations, risk assessments, and hazard and injury management processes.
  • Team player with strong planning, time management, and multitasking abilities.
