Entry to Acute Care Program (EACP)

  • We are looking for nurses (Registered and Enrolled) who are wishing to transition into acute care to join our EACP, including recent graduates.
  • The program is for the duration of 6 weeks, offering a supported transition to practice in acute care

About the role

Calvary Launceston is offering suitable candidates the opportunity to transition from Sub Acute to Acute healthcare through a supported transition to practice program. The 6 week Transition to Acute Care Program offers; Hospital orientation, clinical skills workshops, supernumerary induction to the clinical setting and graduated patient loads over 5 weeks. You will be supported throughout your transition by a Clinical Nurse Facilitator and nominated Preceptor.

Level 3 is an acute 33 bed Surgical/Medical ward specialising in General, Bariatric, Urological, Gynaecological, Plastics/Reconstructive, and Colorectal Surgery as well as 14 Medical Beds. There is also a 4 bed Higher Observation Unit attached to the ward which you may have the opportunity to work in. Level 3 offers a wide range of learning opportunities within a supportive environment. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to transition into the acute Hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high levels of patient service to exceed patient expectations
  • Conduct comprehensive and systematic nursing assessments using a range of techniques to collect relevant and accurate data
  • Plan nursing care in consultation with individuals/ groups, significant others and the interdisciplinary health care team

What you bring

  • Currently working outside of acute care e.g. aged care/community care
  • AHPRA Registration
  • Ability to work proficiently and in an organised manner during periods of high demand and activity
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated communication, interpersonal skills and customer service skills
  • A desire to join a team committed to the care of others in a mission based organisation
