Responsibilities will include developing, implementing and maintaining policies, conducting inspections and providing safety training to employees. As a safety leader, the H&S specialist will stay informed on industry trends and legislative changes and communicate information to relevant stakeholders. The H&S Specialist is also responsible to maintain a safe, discrimination free, positive workplace environment.RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop, implement and maintain health and safety policies, procedures and programs ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and standards.Collaborate with training department to develop health and safety focused training programs and provide training and education to employees on safety procedures ensuring comprehension and compliance to policies.Oversee JHSC committees for different locations, reviewing workplace inspection audits and assisting with implementing actions / recommendations.Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Complete documentation resulting from these including worker’s compensation requirements.Liaise with medical practitioners and/or WCB’s / WSIB in relation to ATS Healthcare’s Early Safe Return to Work program. In addition, work closely with department heads to arrange for any modified duties that may be required.Stay current on industry trends, best practices and regulatory changes related to health and safety and communicate relevant information.Coordinate with external regulatory bodies such as the Labour Program and Workers Compensation Boards ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.Participate in the development and implementation of emergency response plans and procedures, including evacuations protocols, first aid training and crisis management.Review all Change Control documentation to assess any H&S impact/risk.Maintain MSDS documentation for all sites.Promote and foster a culture of health and safety awareness and accountability.Other duties as required.What you Need:Post-Secondary completion of a recognized H&S certificate or degree3+ years of experience working in a health and safety focused position.Excellent understanding of Occupational Health and Safety legislation and regulationsCRSP® designation an assetExperience working with provincial worker’s compensation boards and WSIB.Strong communication & organizational skillsKnowledge of recognized Health and Safety best practicesKnowledge of Transportation and Logistics activitiesExceptional Keyboard and Computer literacy skillsExperience in a GMP environmentAble to work in a dynamic and fast paced environmentBenefits of Working for ATSGrow with us – an average tenure of an ATSer is 5 years and we like to promote from within!
