Environmental Health Safety Specialist

S3 Science are currently recruiting for a Health and Safety Environment Advisor to join our fantastic client who delivers world-leading research studying viral disease outbreaks in livestock. Our client is offering a starting salary of £42,000 – £52,000.


As a Health and Safety and Environment Advisor you will be responsible for a wide range of duties including developing and implementing procedures and guidance to ensure compliance with safety and environment legislation as well as deliver and develop training on matters of health, safety, and environment.


Key Responsibilities:

§ Provide proportionate, reliable, and authoritative advice on matters of health, safety and environment to staff/students and stakeholders

§ Maintain knowledge an understanding of the legal framework for which the Institute operates, and assist in the development of best practice in all applicable aspects of HSBS risk management and regulatory compliance

§ Carry out a combination of management system and topic focused audits, as well as detailed site-wide inspections, producing high quality reports

§ Monitor and facilitate implementation of corrective and improvement actions identified by inspections, audits and investigations

§ Lead on projects related to the continual improvement of health, safety and environment management/performance, actively promoting initiatives to engage with stakeholders

§ Act as deputy for the Head of Health, Safety and Environment as required


Job Requirements:

§ NEBOSH general certification in Occupational Health and Safety, or equivalent

§ Experience working in a laboratory

§ Auditing qualifications or training, and experience in ISO 45001 auditing

§ Training qualifications and/or experience in development and delivery of health and safety training
