Safety Specialist (240422)

Peter Lucas Project Management is seeking a Safety Specialist to join our dynamic team in Ontario. The Safety Specialist is responsible for:
  • ensuring construction activities comply with the safety, health, environment and quality (SHEQ) requirements and monitors daily activities to identify hazardous conditions and implementation of safe work procedures
  • working closely with construction management team (CMT) and contractors
  • ensuring all safety, health and environmental procedures and work instructions are followed
  • conducting workplace inspections with CMT, focusing on behavioural observations
  • reviewing field level risk assessments (FLRAs) and daily contact cards for quality adherence
  • conducting and monitoring SHEQ related training for construction management team (CMT) personnel and contractors and assess qualifications of construction contractor personnel as needed
  • participating in job hazard assessments, safety meetings, toolbox meetings, constructability reviews, and project kick-off meetings, upon request
  • conducting daily and weekly job site inspections as per procedure
  • identifying and reviewing various health and safety concerns specific to the work site
  • investigating injuries, accidents and near misses as per site corrective action processes
  • ensuring timely notification occurs of significant events
  • monitoring quality of incident investigations and ensures effective and appropriate corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner
Salary: Open to wage negotiations based on experience and qualifications.
