The Organisation

You will be working for a health district that provides health services for 400,000 people. It is one of the region’s largest employers with a workforce of more than 8,500 staff. Operating eight hospital sites and providing community health services from approximately 58 locations across the region.
The major referral and teaching hospital in the district has a bed base of more than 500 with the capacity to treat specialist and complex cases.. The campus, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services.
The Hospital is closely affiliated with the University of Wollongong and the Illawarra Health and Medical Research Institute.
The Job

• The Consultant Neurologist is responsible for the provision of high quality Neurology, including Stroke, care to patients
• You will have a high level of clinical experience, expertise and specialised knowledge in Neurology
• The role encompasses participation in General Neurology Department activities including both General Neurology and acute and subacute Stroke clinical duties and some participation in the on-call roster and care for both Acute Stroke/Stroke and General Neurology presentations
• Where allocated to do so the Consultant Neurologist will provide expert, high quality medical assessment and management of presenting patients in the Neurology Service within the districtt, including responsibility for provision of specialist Neurology Services to emergency patients, inpatients and outpatients

• Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent
